Gosterwick Gazette #24: 21 Eleasis 2993

A troubling rumor has come out of the New Forest, travelers between Gosterwick and Deepton have increasingly been sighting and even attacked by large, poisonous spiders. Few victims of these attacks survive and return to town but the few that have have shown wounds similar to those seen after attacks within the town recently. As reported a number of tendays ago, a highly-toxic new poison has appeared in Newmarket and Gosterwick under the street name of “Mortality”. Reliable sources say that the poison is being brewed within the Halls of Arden Vul although neither the parties making the poison nor what connection this may have to the spiders seen in the New Forest is known. The City Watch says that if you see anybody approach you with any hint of green liquid on their blade that you should run and not engage with them.
In equally disturbing news, there have been two reports of missing, single merchant travelers last seen either leaving Thorham and never reached Gosterwick in one case or leaving Gosterwick and never reaching Thorham. Both of these merchants were known to deal in products that can be found in the Fenn to the east of the Imperial Road leading south from Gosterwick. It is unclear what has occurred or where these merchants may be or in what condition they are in. Be aware of your surroundings and travel, as always, with others.
In more up beat news, the bardic group known as the College of Requiems has stayed in town after this month’s Nocte Ellion and has agreed to play songs at Crestion’s Market day this tenday on the 27th. Widely watched and loved last tenday, this troupe of bards, highlighted in black and purple, was mesmerizing to the crowds as they played such favorites as Foy Porter, the Song of Arden, Blow the Wind Southerly, and local favorite, The Thorcin Lad. Admission is free for those participating in commerce at the market.
Ground is being broken for a new inn and entertainment center in Gosterwick’s west side. The Dungeon of Darkness promises to provide those with coin and courage a taste of dungeoneering. Miss Linger, the inn’s manager says, “This cozy tavern offers two levels of dungeon training: one for beginners, and one for the more experienced adventurer. Bring your weapon of choice and learn how to slay the undead. Get pointers from the experts—the undead themselves! In addition, you’ll find our food and rooms very satisfactory after a long journey or a hard day of undead training.”
