Gosterwick Gazette #26: 11 Eleint 2993
Many of you, brave and noble Gosterwickians, have written in since last tenday’s edition with news of the missing Canon of Mitra and the growing rumors circulating that there are a number of missing children from the Little Acorns Orphanage and that these missing people may have been abducted for a nefarious purpose. Rest assured, dear readers, help is apparently on the way. The adventuring group calling themselves the Reconstituted 3rd Cohort, a member of which was a guest writer last tenday, is on the case. We received the following missive from a member of the R3C as they like to be called, one Vincent, who sheds light on these missing people. We can only hope that the R3C will find them soon. The letter is reproduced in its entirety, below:
Dear Gosterwick Gazette
4 kids have gone missing From litle Acorns orphanige fist phrefelbirt, oakley, Annie then william All of them were Reported to be around a larger opening With Somthing Red Such as a blankie a ball or a Cardnal. All the kids also went on 8th day. So I Would ask all the People who can to pay atention to the door of the orphanage and to Refrain to Donate anything Red to the orphanige.
We have learned that the abducted children and the Canon of Mitra, whom some say is pregnant, may be slated for sacrifice on Mabon, the Feast of Consanguinity, which would make this the second of this type of deed on this holiday without a known reason. We have heard rumors that the R3C is investigating. Since the next edition is due one day after the Feast, we hopefully will have an update then.
Lady Alexia Basileon’s Thesmothete, Eusebia Phokas has announced a new fete, called Leaf Fall Ball, appropriately set for the new moon occurring on the last day of the month of Marpenoth/Leafall. Thesmothete Phokas’s office states that while most tickets to the ball will be sent to those invited by the Green Lady, there will be some tickets available for purchase from the House of the Thesmothete starting on the 1st of Marpenoth and that these tickets will cost 1,000 gp each with proceeds earmarked to help with local charities including the Little Acorns Orphanage and Those Hurt Adventurers That Should Utilize Compassionate Kindness Services hospital for lame adventurers.
Rats have been reported dead or missing this past tenday with a consequent uptick in reports of rat infestations in restaurants and the grain hall. Any information would be welcomed by the Gosterwick Farmers’ Collective who want you to know, you are not a rat for telling what you know about this issue.
