Gosterwick Gazette #25: 1 Eleint 2993
- Publication: 1 Eleint 2993
Rumors abound with stories of missing Drome agents, clerics of Mitra, and others. The barest of hints speaks of an agent of the Drome or maybe two, investigating strange signs and portents west of the ruined city and not returning. The House of Sight did not return our request for information. In similar news, Lillian, Canon for the Temple of Mitra in Gosterwick has gone missing. It was reported by High Priest Theylon that she was herself investigating beastman activity in the farmlands south of the cliffs between here Deepton when she failed to return from a foray. High Priest Theylon is offering a 5,000 gp reward for her return. Still no word on the whereabouts of little Willim who disappeared over two tendays ago from Little Acorns Orphanage.
Old man Oswine has been at his cups again if one can judge by the stories he tells, and this time it is a beauty. He says he was picking berries up the old imperial road, but not as far as the old watchtower, when, through the mist he saw Arden’s hand and arm lift up to the heavens in supplication! Maybe it was her 12th labor, he says. Please remember that buying him drinks at Poor Larry’s is not helpful to him or our writing staff. Thank you.
Guest writer Fenpenny Copperleaf of the Reconstituted 3rd Cohort reports that recent expeditions have revealed increased activity from fearsome flora and fauna lurking within Arden Vul. These include various blights, some of which entangle and strangle with their vine-like appendages, others that shoot needle-like projectiles, and twig-like creatures that attack in swarms. Rotting heaps of animated vegetation have also been spotted.
The ruins are also home to any number of venomous creatures, ranging from giant centipedes and giant wolf spiders to carrion crawlers with paralyzing bites.
Most disturbing of all are recent encounters with horrific parasitic creatures that resemble enormous tadpoles that burst from their victims’ chests. Always travel in groups and stay vigilant!Coming up on the 20th of this month is Mabon, the Feast of Consanguinity, and a happy harvest we hope to have as we propitiate Fenth, the First Seed, and his niece Ethrik, goddess of love. The druids of the Old Forest will likely be in fine fettle and hopefully will be able to stop any repeat of the mysterious humanoid sacrifices like those that took place last year.
