Mayoral Estate
The mayoral office is located on the northern side of the city. The manor itself sits on a large, well manicured yard, with pear orchards on either side. Behind the manor is the worn but maintained farmhouse built by Evelyn Farinnel at the village’s founding. These buildings and the yard are enclosed by a large grey stone wall, about 10 feet high, with a wrought iron gate as the entrance. Behind the estate’s walls is the village guard house and barracks, not within the grounds, but close enough for aid if needed.
The Mayoral Estate is the only bureaucratic building in the village, meaning that both professional and personal visitors are seen coming and going from the Estate, making it easy to blur the lines between the two. Almost every villager has seen the inside of the Estate, though, as the Farinnel family have hosted midsummer and winter crest banquets every year for as long as most people can remember.
The newest mayor, Palabra Farinnel, has had a difficult transisition to the role and spends the majority of her time in the Estate when she’s in Farinnel, though her frequent return to Kymal are well known, and the purposes of these trips is the town’s most exciting gossip topic. When in town, Palabra is accompanied by Cinna, the captain of the guard, appointed when Palabra took office. Cinna provides her own gossip for the town, as those who knew her and Palabra as children repeat the stories of all the times the two girls proposed to each other.
