The Great Kraken Battle of Rethal

12/19 Session Begins

The ships of Rethal take formation in the bay with 15 small ships and three galleons flanking on the east and west sides while the 3 wars ships position on the southside with the furries and fiends and 8 additional small ships. 4 of the barrels of oil are set on one small ship with George. One barrel with Loss Mekoin, One barrel with the cog mind and 2 barrels on the furries ships. Vannessa is in the observatory with a fancy telescope observing the battle.

The weather is clear and sunny a glorious day for battle. The water begins to ripple but a light rain begins to fall. But wait… it’s not rain as the kraken erupts off the east flank of the southern team, swallowing one of the smaller fishing ships.

Turn 1

Zieg casts scorching Ray, 21, 14, 17. only the 21 hits. Dealing a total of 8 damage. Seemingly dealing full damage. ‘

Layer action and the fishing boats moved into different position. Gordon moves slightly closer to the kraken. The kraken bellows out “NOT IN MY SEA” and raises his tentacles as lightning bolts come crashing down onto his tentacles and looks at the furry’s boat and pulls the coils into the water electrically charging the sea. The blast takes out all the fishing boats including Gordon causing his the barrels to explode dealing 46 damage to the kraken. 16 damage caused to each surviving ship. The people of the fishing boats are left floundering in the electrified sea.

The kraken takes a legendary actions to cast lightning storm to call down 3 bolts of lightning. The Cogmind is hit by a bolt and one of the galleons is hit with another strike. The third strike fizzles out

The mage ships works together to lash out a flame strike against the kraken. The kraken takes the full damage of 22 damage.

On the kraken’s turn he will move closer to the warship group and attack the cog mind, furries and Mekoin’s ship with his tentacles and deal 42 to the cog, 46 to the furries, and 38 to the Mekoin ship. He is not going to do anything else at this time.

Mingo is going to cast spiritual weapon. And will attack the kraken with it.

Loss Mekoin will command his warship to attack with the ballista and it hits with a 20 and it doinks off. The kraken uses a legendary action to call another storm to hit 3 of the galleons.

Daemos calls to his pact to try to imbue a bolt on the ballista and with 2 1’s succeeds and launches bolt which on its own would miss with a single 10, but since it rolled at advantage it crits with another ten and the sky opens up to an angels choir and guides the bolt directly into the krakens head and it takes 27 radiant damage. Barr and Daemos call out to Otis to point out the angels.

One galleon holds its action until it has magically imbued ammunition. Another galleon moves slightly closer to the kraken.

Otis picks up a crew member and flew him over to the mage guild boat. He also attacks with the fury harpoon and misses with a 17. the kraken fails a perception check as well.

The cog mind is pooling their energy together into Brandi and she is going to cast firestorm on the kraken. The kraken passes its saving throw and takes 21 fire damage.

One galleon moves closer to the kraken and cheers on the other galleons with a yarghhh

The furries boats turns to move closer to the mage guild

Unimportant moves his ship farther away

Barr attacks with his trident and hits with a 20 and imbues with some hill giant “tttach” and it deals 12 additional damage. Barr also hucks a barrel at the kraken and it hits the kraken, but the oil spills down toward the burning trident and the Kraken says oh fuck and it ignites dealing 27 fire damage. Barr uses an action surge to chuck another barrel at the kraken and it hits the already burning body dealing an additional 31 damage. The kraken is still not bloodied at 144 damage.

The kraken uses a legendary action to smack the furries with a tentacle hitting for 36 damage.

Two more galleons turn their ships in the direction of the kraken

Turn 2

Zieg casts scorching ray and all three attacks miss.

The layer action ensues and all fail expect the cog mind and the furries ships. The kraken oscillates up and down creating a wave and pushing a shit ton of ships out of the battle for two turns.

The mage ship creates a magical door for Otis to walk through and teleports him back to the furry’s ship

The kraken decides not to move even though he can clearly move to be in attack range of the cogs ship also and attacks the furries ships for 40, 50 and 70 damage. Bloodying our ship.

Mingo’s spectral blade was blown away and it uses its dash action to move closer back into battle.

Lost Mekoin moves slightly closer to the battle

Daemos determines the location of the hole in the krakens hide and shares it with the rest of the ship. He also loads and aims a ballista.

Otis aims Fury at the kraken and misses with the first attack and hits with the second attack directly in the hole in its hide. Dealing 58 damage and lowering the DC to hit the spot by 1.

The cog mind is going to attempt to disintegrate the kraken and the kraken fails its saving throw dealing 71 damage.

The Kraken uses a legendary action to use the storm attack to attack 3 times. It will hit the Cog mind, furries and a galleon. Dealing 40 more damage

Barr attacks with his long bow hitting the super special spot dealing 23 damage

Turn 3

Zieg uses wall of fire and deals 12 damage putting a line of fire on the backside of the kraken

The kraken splashes around(like a magikarp) and makes some cute sparking giving everything vulnerability to lightning damage.

The mages are going to attempt to cast feeble mind dealing 10 damage.

The kraken is going to be a dick and cast his lightning bolts and misses with one and fucks up 2 galleons for 128 damage destroying one galleon and bloodying another. He is also going to attack the furry’s with one tentacle dealing 51 damage. Lowering to 150 health total for the furries boat.

Mingo is going to move its spiritual weapon and fire a ballista and hit the weak point dealing 10 damage and load up the ballista.

Daemos aims and fires the ballista at the weak spot dealing 14 damage.

Otis fucks up and misses both shots with the Fury Harpoon… Stupid bird

The cog mind casts incendiary cloud and it deals 26 damage.

The kraken is going destroy our ship like a cunt. And attack the cog mind with some BS and blow up a barrel as well dealing a combined total for a poop ton of damage.

Barr shoots it with his bow for a crit and adding a fire strike dealing 10 total damage. Barr is going to run up to the kraken inside the fire cloud and take 23 fire damage. Barr will attack with the moon touched long sword and hits with an 18 and deals 5 damage. Attacks with an unarmed strike hitting with a 19 and deal 7 but misses the tickle hole and doesn’t deal damage.

The galleons will move.

Turn 4

Zieg is going using scorching ray 19 hits, 12 misses, 21 hits, 20, rerolls the 12 into 18 and all 4 hit. The attack deals 27 damage.

The kraken makes a wave pool and blows everything except Mingo and Otis away.

The kraken makes a tentacle attack on Otis dealing 18 damage.

The mage guild casts a chaos bolt dealing 7 lightning damage which bounces off.

The kraken is massive giant bull shit pussy coward and runs away with his tentacles between his giant pussy legs and dives deep underwater.

Barr attempts to goad the kraken by mentioning it may have child it will never meet if it leaves

Battle Aftermath

12/27 Session Begins

Literally all the fishing boats in Rethal were destroyed and the bay is littered with debris from the carnage of the battle

Barr felt the Kraken latch on and hesitate due to his response but he never resurfaces

Otis is flying but the breeze has his feathers in a tizzy cuz its cold, the rest of the furries stand on the water and their feet are cold because you lose most of the heat through your feets. The Cog mind and the other stand at the bows of their ship stoically thinking about the lives lost today.

Barr suggests we should try to retrieve as many bodies as we can for the loved ones. Barr is going to go to Loss Mekoin’s ship and asks his to begin recovering supplies, bodies and materials. We see Loss reach for a bottle of booze and Barr stays his hand and he pulls his hand back and says obviously my ship will head the recovery efforts.

Battle Aftermath

1/3 Session Begins

Ryan is a gay cat as well as a dumb cow.

Noon game time. Vanessa is holding a vigil in the port district attempting to comfort the people of Rethal. She is in the South Eastern Corner

Port District

It is eerily quiet in the street of the port because many are gathered in the squares to pay homage to the people that fell. We begin to hear echoes of Vannessa’s speech and we hear mention that heroes have killed the kraken. Mingo walks up asking the people about the kraken. The citizens describe that the city rallied together the heroes of Rethal and defeated the kraken. Mingo telepathically asks Barr if he thinks it’s okay for the city to think this. Barr is caught off guard by hearing Mingo’s voice in his head for the first time. Mingo telepathically asks if we should spread rumors disputing our involvement in the battle. Otis is also caught off guard hearing a voice in his head for the first time. Barr is looking for the Cog Mind Collective. Barr smells success. He finds and approaches the Cog Mind Collective. One of the cog mind talks shit bragging how much they contributed and damage they did to the kraken. Mingo reaches out telepathically to Sylas saying he should join the winning team but disguises voice. Daemos asks who killed the kraken and Brandi stands up and exclaims that Barr has scored the winning blow on the kraken and begins to feed into the crowd and they begin to cheer. As a roar and cheer of chants of Barr’s name “Barr the Bane of Kraken Bay”. Barr leaves to go find Vanessa, kicking out the barrel Brandi is standing on. Brandi catches herself as the barrel falls sideways and falls down as it rolls out from underneath her. The people pick up Barr and lift him to crowd surf him over to Vanessa. We approach her as people kneel around her with a prayer as she consoles the people. Barr hushes the crowd as they approach her. She welcomes some of the heroes of the battle. Barr expresses the need to talk to Vanessa privately soon.

Noble District

Barr announces a party in the noble district. Dick Trickle and Hari Paratestes are “guarding” the noble district and just let the people in. Barr leads people to Gorge Bush’s house. We open the house and it is completely empty. It would appear that this occurred in the last few days. The City folk love the open venue, the furries take note to ask Underda about the missing furniture next time we see her. The entire port district is now filling Gorge Bush’s house. Barr is drumming along with the party. Daemos swings around on the chandelier and Zieg looks around for evidence. Barr, Otis and Mingo leave the party and try to find Underda and Kiera. Zieg looks for more clues in the house but finds… nothing.

Max Guild

We find Underda in the kitchen(Ryan claims it’s not because she’s a woman, but we all know that’s really the reason why). They begin to question Underda why the mansion is completely empty. Underda genuinely does not know why there is nothing in the mansion. Kiera had left in the morning to go to the market to get ingredients for a recipe. Underda says Kierra has been pretty sick recently. She mentions she believes that Kierra may be pregnant as she has noticed morning sickness, cramping and irritability. She says it’s weird because she has found blood soaked wrappings, but the hue of the blood is purple.

Barr sends a message to Daemos through the sending stone to leave the party and go to the market to help find Kierra.

Market Place

Otis, Mingo and Barr head to the market and don’t see anyone they recognize right away. Otis flies back to the max guild looking for a trail to potentially follow, but finds no evidence and flies back to the group.

Daemos casts minor illusion to make it appear as though there are fireworks going off indoors and dips out of the party. Zieg notices Daemos leaving and joins him back to the market.

Daemos goes to a food stall that Kierra may be frequenting to buy for the recipe and asks around if anyone had seen Kierra. The stall vendor says that she was there this morning, paid for carrots but never took the carrots. The vendor notes that she did not head in the direction of the max guild like she normally does, but instead was traveling in the direction of the port district. Upon hearing this Otis and Barr take off for the port district.

Port District

Before others arrive Otis makes an arial lap searching for Kierra, but doesn’t see anything. He is going to check the beach spot where she would meet the Kraken ashore to get that pussy pounded. Otis finds a beach that leads into the bay that is undisturbed and sees a set of footprints that disappears into the bay. Its 1pm. Barr runs out to sea and sees nothing. Otis flies up and out and only sees driftwood and salvage efforts out at sea. Based on our observations we feel confident in saying that she is likely gone out to sea.

Barr thinks out to the kraken to send a message for him not to return.

Zieg wild shapes into a dolphin and searches the bay. Zieg swims out an hour north west and doesn’t see much, but maybe some dried ink splotches on coral. Zieg casts speak with animals and asks them if they saw the kraken swimming by. Zieg finds himself along a current and a sea turtle pops out of the current. And with a mediocre Aussie surfer accent is asked about the kraken. He says he needs to roll to see if he saw the kraken, somehow he said he almost forgot he saw 200ft tall squid looking thing go by a few times. He says you can follow the current to the dump point, but it’s pretty far for the gnarly ride. Probably about 2 hours from this point 3 hours form the shore. He rolls back into the current.

Ryan wants us to remember this moment, which is us questioning why nobody noticed Kierra leaving the bay

We approach Delimira’s. Barr knocks and the door appears to have been opened. He calls out and nobody answers. Otis finds a knocked over glass as though there are signs of a struggle. We noticed slight footprints that were rushed or dragged. Along with some weapons that may have been dragged and Delmira was forcefully removed.

Mayoral Estate

We go to the mayoral estate to meet with Vanessa. Barr starts off with clarifying that we all know the Kraken is not dead and that a plan should be established in case of its return and making Barr the fall guy is not Plan A. Barr asks about what happened to Delmira. Vanessa explains that all the guards are gone except Hari and Dick and that they have a loophole in their contract due their low IQ they are exempt from certain activities. According to them all guards were ordered to take an iron smith and her assistant into a sheltered location to finish her work. She is not aware where this location is but is working on finding out. This is a forced work situation, not a secret project, arming the city for the kraken fight.

WE GO TO THE LIBRARY

We are greeted by someone who recognizes Barr. And it is Delimira’s sisters. She asks for a library card that we do not have. Barr notifies her that her sister is missing and take by the government. She quickly issues us a library card with RESTRICTED ACCESS. We find a book called “Acts of Evil” written by Varo Ano and looks like a very old book. The author speaks as though they have encountered evil across many timelines. One particular encounter resonates as it may lead to the clue of where evil rests. One story leads true to the map and is the city of Rah-Gu that the next hint lies. We go on to read how there was a group of heroes through suspect means saved the continents from impending doom and were honored by having cities and regions named after them none more controversial than Rah-Gu.

The group decides to take a boat to Rah-Gu. Barr and Otis begin to fight over the harpoon gun. Barr picks him up from behind and Otis rolls out of it and caws at Barr, Daemos attempts to kick out the Harpoon from his hand and misses Otis raises the harpoon menacingly AND NOTHING ELSE ENSUES… definitely not a pillow growing in the shape up of a whale and destroying thousands of ancient books from the shelves.

Max Guild

The group goes back to the Max guild to let Underda know we are leaving the city and that she is in charge of taking care of everything in ours and Max’s absence. We take a long rest and wake up in the morning and have to go find a ship to take to Rah-Gu
