Session 41
Upon reaching Greystone, the party led by Axi sent word to the Mayor and asked for an audience. Not too much time passed before the Mayor arrived and words were discussed about the entity Morgana and what this could mean, and also a discussion about replenishing some supplies while there. The Mayor had no issues with helping with supplies, however he had no information about Morgana. The party decided then to send word to Svetlana Trigg informing her about what transpired. She responds and informs the party that if its the same Morgana that she knows of, then that cant be good news and she will have to organise some recognisance on Flamested to keep an eye on the situation.
With this, the party returned to the ship and Us decided to enter his ropetrick only to discover that this space had expanded on its own somehow, noticing to the left of the bridge, two opaque bridges leading into misty gates leading to who knows where. Deciding to have a little looksie, Us discovered one of the portals to lead to what appeared to be a tavern-esk room, with alcohol and liquor behind a counter, a handful of tables and chairs across another wall, and around a corner a series of alchemical ingredients alongside a highly advanced alchemical crafting table. Nearby however was a wooden door, that appeared locked. Us decided to attempt to open and very quickly realised the door would not budge no matter how hard he tried. Deciding to come back later, Us left the ropetrick and the party once again set off and began to head to Rogarsheim, the second leg of their journey.
Session 42
As the party flew the next few days on their airship, Us decided to enter his ropetrick again and explore the depths of the new experiences. Taking the party with him, they looked through the different rooms again and, in the other misty portal, discovered a type of hunting ground where the terrain appeared to continue forever. The party also found the initial room with the alchemist equipment and tavern area and noticing the unopened door still present they decided to attempt to open it. After several attempts to force the door open and picklock it, they finally managed to open it just enough for Estrella to fly on through the gap and have a quick look.
What Estrella saw was beyond startling; the saw the expanse of the Astral Plane before her. Looking back she also noticed the door wasn’t visible from her side, indicting that this was most certainly either a one-way opening, or the portal on the Astral Plane side was intentionally well hidden. Either way, Estrella flew back through and the door closed. With the party now knowing where the door led, they were satisfied with their exploration.
Upon arriving at the outskirts of Rogarsheim, the party saw the city in the distance and the large dark clouds that surrounded it - this was the problem the city had with its terrible thunder storms that prevented the ships from leaving the harbour.
Ugir was told to sit tight while the party managed their business within the city for a few days. On their way to the city however, Us decides to pull yet another card from the Deck of Many Fates, this time pulling ‘The Satyr’…and before the party knew it, a thick mist began to seep out of the card, enveloping the entire party and causing them to loose sight of each-other for a brief moment and appearing suddenly in a snow-covered valley covered in trees in the early evening. Where they were, no one knew.
Session 43
Got teleported somewhere in the Feywild, met two beavers named Mr and Mrs. Had a little lunch and then were sent off back to the material plane not far from where they originally were teleported thanks to the card Us pulled. From here, the party continued to the raining city of Rogarsheim.
Then walked around and asked questions regarding any leads and were told by an older crazy man in the tavern/guild call named The Blushing Mermaid that there was a large serpent seen in the waters and that its the serpents fault. He then said it was a dragon, then said boats have disappeared in the past. The owner of the tavern took his drunk ramblings away and sent him to the bathroom only for him to then appear to contact the party telepathically saying to meet him outside the tavern in a couple of hours before he disappeared behind a door.
The owner of the Blushing Mermaid did however also give the party a lead regarding the Duke of the city, and that he may have some information if they could get an audience.
From here the party took their leave to explore the city and find any other leads as well as to see the Duke.
Session 44
Deciding it may be prudent to split the party to cover more ground, with half heading to meet the Duke Luric Sindront and discuss the weather and any possible leads that he may have. The other half decided to go back to the tavern and follow up on the old man who apparently communicated with them telepathically.
The group that went and saw Duke Luric managed to gather several bits of information about the cities situation as well as information regarding the Duke himself as well; that the Duke had done everything he could possibly imagine to get the weather to change and nothing would work, that he was out of ideas, and that the only lead he had was the old tale of a sea monster living in their harbour. They also discovered that the Duke, although presenting judgemental of the party at first, was kind and respectful at heart and appeared to value the cities inhabitants above himself. The half that saw Luric decided to follow up on this lead, which was the same lead that was given in the tavern, and investigate the harbour.
The group that stayed at the tavern managed to come across a female Bronze Dragonborn who introduced herself as Osnantas, and when questioned said that she had a personal interest in the weather and that she had her own theory as to why the weather had rapidly occurred and why it was preventing ships from leaving the harbour. After some discussion, Osnantas told the group to meet her at the docks later that afternoon before she revealed too much, but she made mention she believed the issue lay below the water. Later, the party joined her, leading to the group below the waves and discovering an opening in the bedrock below the harbour. Entering, they swam down and up and came upon a large cave covered in water and crystals. After some discussion, the group made their way deeper into the lush and vibrant cave.
Further down, the party began to feel vibrations in the ground below them, and shudders from the crystals. A low growl echoed through the cave system, directing the party to the far ends of the cave system. Approaching the far end, the party felt a dark presence, mixed with dark magic. Looking forward while keeping hidden, they saw a dark, clocked, shadowy figure, one arm outstretched with tendrils of shadow emanating from it, curling forward to rest on the thrashing form of a large copper dragon. Seeing this, Osnantas caught her breath, and stated that this was the cause of the storm. Whatever the dark figure was doing to the dragon was causing the weather to become chaotic on the surface, and that because its been like that for weeks, this dragon has been tortured for just as long if not more. Deciding to do something about it, Osnantas told the party to wait for her signal to attack, and she would get some information. She left her hiding spot and approached, calling out for the figure to stop. At this, the shadowy form turned, addressing the dragonborn, and stating that she was too late to save her brother as the preparations were complete. Mentioning that her allies wouldn’t last too long down here, he stepped forward only for shadows to burst from his form and envelope the dragon, darkening its scales, forcing its size to grow, and poisoning his mind as his eyes turned a sickly green. Osnantas, sensing the imminent conflict, transformed herself, revealing her true Bronze Dragon form to the party just in time for her brother to attack. They fumbled and clawed at each other before falling beneath the waves of the underwater river in the area. With this, Dethmol brushed himself off and brandished a long steel rod, igniting it with a hiss as energy emanated from it into the form of a glaive, and telling the party that its about time they were dealt with as they had been the ones to thwart all his plans up until now.
And so, the party was now face to face with their most challenging foe yet; Dethmol, one of The Scars of Galdeth, and the one responsible for all the chaos that has engulfed The Moonshae Isles up until this point.
Session 45
Defeating Dethmol, The Dominator was no easy feat. Due to his words of domination, Hamwise was magically persuaded to fight his allies, using his boots ability to reverse gravity and disrupt the battlefield and throwing everyone into chaos. Just as the battle seemed to be leaning in Dethmol’s favour, Us threw a guiding bolt at Dethmol, dealing significant damage and discovering his radiant vulnerability. Dethmol, now realising the tables may be turning, went to target Us, only for Axi to get in the way and take the damage himself. Soon, the tides of battle changed and through great hardship, the party was successful.
Below the waves Osnantas managed to subdue her brother and with Dethmol defeated, the corruption that plagued his mind was lifted and he was able to join the party and his sister in the cave above the waters. He introduced himself as Frimad and thanked the party for their aid and for Osnantas’ help. After a brief discussion, the party decided it was best to return to their ship and rest. Returning to the surface, the sun shone brightly and the sea was now once again calm.
