We come to the realization of the actual size of Mingo… not quite at the level of acceptance, but here we are.
Corunite Keep
We wake up eat talk a bit and decide to head to Rah-Gu early.
At some point a quick discussion comes up about trusting me with the recording of the history of this world…. I couldn’t imagine it being in any more honest and capable hands that would never white wash history and who’s character’s home city has a completely realistic interpretation of the hero that is its namesake…
The party teleports into the Earth Estate and Terra and Skie are huddled around a war table making plans. The group joins them around the war table and Terra and Skie share their battle plans thus far to encircle the Fire District and assault with catapults and trebuchets. Violi shares the plans that were arranged with the allies in Rethal to continue to disrupt some of the Fire Nations retaliatory efforts. Skie and Terra’s plan seems to be a little too genecidy for Violi’s comfort and they question whether Violi should be left to fill the void of leadership after his father’s ousting. Otis over hears some of this conversation and because he’s an overly skeptical cunt without any evidence whatsoever to support these claims he continuously has he cast zone of truth. Violi fails the charisma save and must speak truth while in the circle. They ask what the source of Violi’s power comes from and if that because of this he is fit to lead. Violi says the source of his power is the same as the ancestral founders of the city and therefore he is the most fit to lead. They continue to question him on if he is leader he would be motivated to lead in the interest of the city of Rah-Gu. Violi being under the effects of the Zone of Truth says yes and that Ozil will lead in his place until his business with the Furries and Fiends is finished convincing the group to end their interrogation.
Rah-Gu Fire District Streets
Barr Only
Barr goes out into the city streets to get a vibe of how the people are feeling. He sees people walking around normally but the vibe is off. He sees fliers around that seem to be part of the propaganda campaign from the Rethal agents. He overhears an interaction of a citizen reading a flier and another person ripping it away and saying he shouldn’t speak of this. Barr asks about this and the citizen tells him that people are listening and Blazeoli is angry and that it is unsafe to speak against him openly right now. Barr then returns to the Earth Estate after walking around a bit more
Earth Estate
Violi continues to try and understand the deeper planning of the war effort. He asks if there are containment plans for his younger brother Incinder, there is a kidnapping plan mentioned, but nothing is decided. Skie reveals that her mother has left this matter for Skie to handle and get the feeling that she is avoiding making any sort of public acknowledgement of the situation. The plan for containing the Water Lord was to distract him by kidnapping his son. Violi questions whether they think that would have any effect given the rumors about him. The rumors being that he is not concerned about his son or ever plans to cede control over to him. They agree that they should commit more manpower to potentially containing a response from the Water District.
When asked about a potential use of the creatures of the Coliseum that resides in the Fire District it is revealed that the League of Arcane Druids(LoAD) traditionally does not take side in the political affairs of the cities in which the league resides. However the creatures are stored within a network of pocket dimensions that could be accessed by a diabolist. The group knows of a diabolist that used to be employed by Violi’s father and still resides in the Fire Estate. The group arranges to contact Ozil to coordinate a meeting with Opindapor Toll about a potential heist of the creatures of the coliseum.
A LOT of off topic discussions tonight, we are still in the war room and can continue Coup planning in fireside chat.

Enter Mirrodin and The Divers from Hell

The LoAD is the official governing body that oversees the teleportation system of the continent. (This definitely won’t backfire in anyway and try to be exploited in the future)
The group takes a quick trip to Corunite keep. To talk to Silas about Mirrodin. The Citadel is sacred to the machines. Home of the most intricately crafted machines in the universe. Brandi has the most prized possession of the citadel and is likely going to charge it. It is wildly dangerous because people there will try to kill her for it. Silas was an intern of the Dark Steel Citadel seeking power and gave a large piece of himself to be able to infiltrate. The forge in the base of the citadel. She will take the item into the forge and dip it in to either charge or destroy. The must dip it in for 1 hour. Time moves linearly there. Silas advice is to have a plan of what we want to accomplish prior to entering the realm.
An advanced message is sent to Opindapor to meet in the Lighthouse of Rah-Gu. The party arrives 5 minutes early and Opindapor “swivels” in his wooden chair to face them. He offers us a onetime free two button package deal to go to Mirrodin. Glissa was the last person to go to Mirrodin with Opindapor 20 years ago, she was an elf and does not know what happened to her. We establish that the return portal will be at Corunite Keep. The portal is a touch teleportation spell and anyone not touching when the button is pressed is left behind. Memnarch is the feared leader of the realm. The group finishes asking questions of Opindapor(Everyone still unsure of exactly where he originates from due to his ever-changing accent.) and presses the button to teleport to Mirrodin.
Upon entering Mirrodin the party observes hundreds of fake trees, a massive pit like a salt mine and a giant thin tower with large machinations at the base. There is no noise except the hum and drum in the distance. We decide to hoof it towards the mine and descend towards the tower. Barr perceives a patrol coming with his sexy nat 20 perception check. Violi uses silent image to create an image of a rock for the party to hide in. The patrol takes a slight notice of something(most likely due to Otis rolling the lowest stealth score) and scans noticing 11 unidentified objects. They raise up a thing. Barr attempts to flask it and he fails miserably. The creature flips out and the patrol is now totally aware of the group inside Violi’s illusion. The creatures sucks in and pulls Mingo’s legendary sword, Violi’s pact sword and a random short sword of Otis.
Turn One
Otis
Shoots the harpoon at the creature that sucked in the weapons and hits for 38 damage, the harpoon is lodged in him as Otis fails to reel him in.
Barr
Grabs the chain lodged in the creature and also tries to reel him in but fails.
Patrol
The metal spider successfully paralyzes Otis.
Zieg
Casts wall of fire and deals 12 damage to the spider fuck.

The spider drone starts tapping its chest putting in a code. He stands in the fire and takes 20 more damage.
Big dude in the back is going to move up and his chest opens up and arcane energy is going to blast out. Everyone takes 45 radiant damage. He takes 18 fire damage from wall of fire
Minotaur runs through the fire and smash his axe on the harpoons cord. It hits and but the rope doesn’t break. He attacks again and the rope snaps.
Mingo
He runs up to the monster pulls his sword off and yells t0 him to bring us to his master.
Patrol
22 fire damage to the beast thing it does something we all fail and take 21 damage.
Violi
Violi breaks free of his stun and attempts to hit one of the patrol with his Eldritch Blast fails miserably then cuts a symbol into his hand (Up, Down, Right, Left Up)…. A familiar dramatic tune begins to sound and 4 pods fall from the sky. They land on 3 creatures and take them out and the fourth barely misses Otis. The seemingly head machine goes oh shit and tethers to all the other machines and casts plane shift and dips out of there.
The “Divers from Hell” fuck up the remaining creature and everyone gets their gear back. Barr searches the creatures body and finds a plus 3 chain shirt. He also extracts some Morkoth Blood .The “Divers from Hell” salute Violi. They seems suspicious of Barr, but Violi convinces them he’s cool. They will agree to help us if we yell “for Asmodeus true king of hell.” as a battle cry when fighting the machinations.

Mingo hacks away with a radiat infused sword and blows its head off and hacking a hole in it.
Zieg heals Barr and brings him back. Barr and Violi calm Mingo down. Barr takes a vile of incubus blood and Remorhaz blood. He also gets a vile of a mixture of the remorhaz and incubus blood. Mingo breaks off a leg from one of the mechanoids to use to replicate to help Vanessa. The group takes a short rest and another group of patrols comes around and starts to notice the dead guards and Remorhaz, so the party slinks away. The group peers over to the tower, Mingo nat 20s the perception check and is going to mansplain everything he sees telepathically to Mingo what he sees. He sees about 1,000 creature 1 to 2 hundred of them are humanoid. They seem to be working somewhat against their will and some of them are shackled. There seems to be sectors working on different things, some forging, manufacturing, assembling etc. They do appear to be wheeling them towards the citadel. Violi cast disguise self to make himself look like one of the guard robots.

Traveling to the Tower
5/13 Session
Mirrodin Basin
Otis and Violi tie up the rest of the group in an attempt to pass through the to the citadel, Violi disguised as a robot himself. A merchant and a c3po looking guy comes up to pass by us and Violi pretends to hit buttons on his chest and with his nat 20 the magic is real good and it makes beeping sounds. The merchant and counterpart pass not suspecting anything out of the ordinary. Otis attempts to scry on Brandi and fails, but we learn that she is in fact on the same plane as us . We continue on until we find a group of people. In an attempt to create a diversion, Violi casts a minor illusion to sound of “for Asmodeus true king of hell.”, the devils cast a charm on a few of the citizens and Mingo commands another to chant the same. Violi casts another illusion of Asmodeus’s symbol in the air and a group of guards that would have stopped us go oh shit and move toward the commotion. We approach the tower entrance and there are guards and a draw bridge is up. The guards stop us saying that Memnarch is not expecting any guards. After telling them we just recently found these new prisoners and they ask us to identify ourselves. Violi casts Minor illusion to create sparks coming out of himself to appear damaged in fight. The guard falls for the illusion and tells Violi to report to the repair bay after citing the password… The password is “Mattress”. The group crosses the bridge.
Enter the tower
We decide to go downstairs and there is a vault door with a computer interface that says connect to continue. Otis plugs in to connect and changes his security password. Barr give’s Otis the ol’ reach around and grab’s his dongle to connect to the interface. After a loading screen it reads greeting user #7 what would you like to do today. Otis brings up the schematics and after a quick permissions check the maps appear. The top 3 bulges appears to be magical power sources for the forge that is in the underbelly of the citadel. There are 4 rooms in the forge, one is very large at the end and 3 almost office looking things next to each other. Otis opens the vault doors to the forge. The doors creek open and a straight stair case is there with continuous left turns. At the base of the stairs the group enters the forge room. There are 4 doors one golden ornate door down the hall a quarantine area, a repair bay and a managers office. We head back up to the first reactor and there is a magic crystal dripping with the magic oil we have seen… Otis sticks his hand and oil stops it. The crystal is a battery and the oil is hyper charging the forge. We determine there is either something special about the crystal or something special about the oil. Otis sticks his hand on the shield protecting the crystal and the oil stops flowing like it was and begins to coagulate and move towards Otis’s hand. Otis keeps his hands there for some time and begins to absorb the oil as it comes in contact with him. Otis takes out 69% of the oil and we watch as the cycle continues there is not enough to completely cover the crystal anymore. Otis sticks his hand back in and soaks up the rest of the oil. The crystal is radiating a bright blue light. Most of the group hears a weird sound coming from beneath us. It sounds kind of like an alarm. The group decides to go down to the forge and the alarm gets louder and louder. As we get to the forge we don’t see anything out of the ordinary. Violi disguises himself as a robot again and knocks on the managers office door and imitates the alarm. He says he is aware of the alarm, but due to the recent event there is nobody to fix anything and its probably a glitch anyways. We say cool and dip basically. After much discussion we decide to move back up to the crystals skipping the second and heading directly to the top.

Memnarch and Brandi Fuck Us
5/29 Session
The party groups together in the top room of the tower which is the last reactor. Otis sticks his hand into the crystal and begins to absorb the oil. Otis again absorbs 69% of the oil and the same reaction occurs of not having enough oil over the entirety if the crystal. Otis crits on a self assessment check on himself, Otis says the oil is great for him the “oilyness is great in his wings” he feels like he can fly even higher. Otis sticks both his hands in and starts shoveling the rest of the oil into himself. Otis is really trying to get Violi to try and absorb some and he holds out his hand. Violi and Otis have a really nice moment holding hands and Violi can’t absorb any of the oil. Otis is acting super sketch and suggests the group go head to the forge ahead of him while he absorbs the final crystal energy. Otis jumps up flaps a bit and goes straight down to the next crystal. This exposes Otis outside the tower and just barely misses a guard from noticing anything on the outside. The group heads to the forge and as they pass Otis he is shoveling the oil with both hands into his beak. The group arrives at the forge and as Otis absorbs the last drop of oil the alarm changes to a slower blooping on a 30 second cadence. The group collectively walks by the repair bay, managers office and “quarantine” up to the “ornate boss door”. It is weird because the door is not a door, it is a jar…… There is no handle at all but at our level there is a thunderbolt like crack where a keyhole would be. It appears to be opened and cracked. There is light flickering beyond the door. The room appears dark without the light.
Boss Room
We ignore the DMs description of the light being weird and go right in, but no punishment…. There are lots of etching on the walls of machine people. As the light flickers we see almost like panels in the ceiling and its like the panel contains light in them and its like the light is failing. At the end of the room up against a wall there is hanging from all these cords a massive machine human looking thing with a head the size of a ranch style house and brain. With two steel grippy arms coming out and metal mantis like legs. It is not standing up, but is suspended. As we walk in we see this and the lights fail and come back on. It appears there are clear cylinders with black film on them but it does not appear there is anything flowing through these tubes. They notice there was black liquid going into the chest cavity of the giant being, but just recently had stopped. Otis moves up and holds Barr’s hand. Otis says Violi is only used to draining one inch of tube so its going to take a while. Otis approaches and begins to hear a stir from the end of the room. We hear a mechanical yet kind of human voice say “You there!” He lifts his massive head up and says “You posses it, I must have it”. Otis asks his name and he looks at him genuinely confused. He does not recognize that Otis is not one of them. Otis says hes here for his shit. The creature starts ripping out his tubes and Otis asks him to wait and asks how hes going to reconnect those tubes with his little hands which seems to be a trigger….. Roll initiative.

Boss Room
Memnarch calls the oil the ichor and says he created it. Tim is robo cop. Memnarch says another humanoid attacked her. He says Brandi attacked and destroyed 90% of the machines here and took most of his power to stop her. The artifact is called the dark steel eye. He says Brandi is still in the area and his domain prevents a plane shift as the Divers from hell try to return to their plane of existence they are paralyzed. We try to convince him to let us help find Brandi, He asks us to line up against the wall and says he needs to be convinced we can be killed by him. He measures out 40 yards and asks us to do a 40 yard dash. We prove that we are not fast enough to escape him. He agrees to us helping and will negotiate our leave if we are able to recover the artifact and keep the tower standing. Memnarch makes an announcement to all the mechs offering a reward to whoever finds the artifact including Otis, but nobody else in the group. He summons a chest that is like a mimic for Violi, but is a control camera for the cameras for Otis to look into. We basically teach him thermal vision and we see a heat blip at the very top of the tower above the third battery, we assume this to be Brandi.
Secret Study
We make our way to the top of the tower where a secret study is where we believe Brandi is hiding. We see a combination of magical darkness and swirling light. We retcon to heal a shit ton before going up the ladder cuz Memnarch fucked us up. We see Brandi floating in the air with her legs crosses muttering some incantations. We are going to attempt to paralyze Brandi and fail miserably at it. Violi tries to grab the artifact out from Brandi. He grabs it and tries to pull it but it doesn’t budge. Brandi raises a finger and green sparks come out of it triggering images in Violi the last time he saw this. He lets go and shit spurts out of the artifact and makes everyone who isn’t immune fearful. As the fart shit oil sprays out of Otis mechanical butthole some gets on Brandi and some gets on the artifact. It pulsates and rumbles, Brandi stops her incantations and says “you’ve consumed the ichor?” to Otis. Otis says he is the ichor and she says you are the ichor and the artifact opens up and the fragments lift up and flicks one into Otis and it embeds itself in his forehead. Otis slowly shifts to attention and says “corruption protocol initiated”. Brandi unleashes herself from her pose. Otis begins to levitate and she says until we meat again and it blasts out an energy Otis, Brandi and the artifact are all gone and significant damage was done to the tower. We take notice of a shrinking culmination of energy. There appears to be a rift near Memnarch and we notice we have a window could teleport out if we want.
