Planned Portal opening to Mirodin

Purification Continued

Corunite Keep

Arriving at midnight. They lay Alice down in a bed she doesn’t look worse but certainly doesn’t look better. Barr asks Silas if he has any thoughts. Silas asks why this would happen to Alice. We tell him the background of brining her back. Silas eyes grow wide and finally spits out “you’ve got to be fucking kidding me”. He puts his hand on a weapon, but slowly takes it away. He asks do we have any idea what this means. He thinks she was infected with the oil. He thinks he(the Githyanki) was infected with the oil and that whatever we did purified them, but that would mean that prior she was unpure. That oil comes from the Plane Mirrodin and comes from Memnarch. He can see through the oil. Mingo says wouldn’t that mean that Memnarch can track Brandi, Silas also reveals that Memnarch was his mentor at one point. Barr finds it interesting that Silas arm did not react to the artifact. Silas holds up the arm and see that the arcana mechanisms and says it was a symbol of the time before Memnarch’s corruption before the oil ruined him. He doesn’t know if the oil is Memnarch’s creation. Before the oil Memnarch was different. Barr asks if Memnarch could be purified, but Silas suspects a similar end to that of the Githyanki should it be attempted in a similar manner.

Prior to calling it a night Violi attempts to Scry on his father. Succeeding Violi conjures sensor and sees a muddled view of Blazeoli almost like in water. The building has intricate designs on the walls. Blazeoli appears to be asleep. It is not a normal sleep he appears to be in some kind of pod, submerged in water. There are a couple pods one on each side of him, but just out of reach to see what is next to him. See as he breaths in the tube with bubbles coming out.

Violi also succeeds scrying on Otis. This sensor sees Otis with his head down and a view of Brandi speaking to a shady fellow. The shady character looks over Brandi’s shoulder (likely seeing the sensor) snaps his finger and Violi lose sight.

Canonically the entire continent of Malos is on the same time zone.‘

Return to Rethal

We go to bed and get credit for a long rest

The group awakes at 6am to a loud bang. Barr jumps out of bed and yells “to your stations”, runs outside to see… a rain storm. Violi asks penguin if this kind of storm is normal around here. He says it’s a pretty good one but nothing out of the ordinary. Barr asks Silas if Memnarch can plane shift, he says lots of magical beings could do that, but doesn’t know that he specifically would himself and it would be unlikely for him to send another after him. We check on Alice and still does not look and better or worse.

Teleport to Rethal Mayoral Estate

The group teleports into city hall outside of business hours and hear alarms blaring. Guards come pouring in yelling don’t move because again it’s outside of business hours. The group identifies themselves hoping to gain access to the limited access area. The guards are like cool, and they escort us off the property telling us to come back during business hours to meet with the council.

Observatory

We go to the observatory. Banging on the door, Abel finally lets us in after three series of banging. He pays us the 146 gold for our services thus far of transporting the oil. We tell him about Alice being purified and ask what he knows about the oil. Barr hates trolls canonically after being asked how much he knows about them, he may be afraid of them, but don’t know for sure. Abel goes on to explain that trolls have regenerative properties. He guesses the oil enhanced the troll’s tears to allow Alice to be revived. When asked where he got the troll’s tears he revealed when the Everquarry was first made it used to be a troll den and received tears there… through various possible less than desirable means. The trolls have since been mostly chases away, but there may be some around the area somewhere.

Barr asks if he knows about Mirrodin. He does not. Barr explains the source of the oil to him. He’s seen the oil used in two separate ways. A person’s abilities are amplified temporarily, but when put into an object it permanently is enhanced usually through a metal medium. We use a sending stone to ask Silas if Memnarch can see through all oil or just through something imbued by it. He said it can see through all. We ask Abel where the oil goes from here and he answers as if reading from a cue card saying, “the use is wide and that its proprietary information”. He continues this scripted response. Barr takes out a black pyramid and places it on the bonsai tree. He speaks some words, and it begins to float. The room doesn’t have much in it but a necklace on the wall begins to chitter and the pyramid begins to make a connection to it. Abel asks what is happening. Barr says just watch. The bonsai tree spins with some black begin to be seen within it. There is a small pop, and the bonsai tree turns completely black and into ash. Abel asks do you know what you’ve just done. You destroyed my grandma’s necklace and my bonsai tree that really brough the room together.

Barr says we proved 2 things that objects can be purified, and that Abel is not infected. We come to the conclusion that the Pyramid acts as a medium that siphons the oil out one thing and into another. He ushers us in after confirming the oil is gone and tells us the oil goes to the capital. Some is used in Rethal for various things. Tossy catches him averting his eyes from the group as he talks about people using it for personal gains. He admits to fixing the fight pits and that most of the oil that stays in Rethal goes to pumping up Slayer before his fights. The shipments that go out of Rethal are every couple of weeks. The oil rides on the Azure Serpent. We offer him asylum at the keep. He would like word sent to his son who has returned to Secratis. We say we will coordinate the efforts for leaving word for his son. Abel agrees to go about his day but if he gets freaked out to light the place up.

We return to the Max Guild. We see Underda in the kitchen slowly cleaning a pan looking forward. We call her name she looks over we feel a breeze and she falls forward in the sink. Before passing out she says he was here. We felt a breeze come from the direction of Max’s office and the door is open. We go in and it appears to be ransacked. We notice a floorboard that had been sticking up and investigate to find markings of possibly a ring that was taken. Barr tries to wake Underda by splashing some water on her face. She comes awake again and says he was here again saying it was Max. She seems to be acting really weird saying Max was acting suspicious.

Violi casts Scry on Max and sees him walking into a room with an open floor concept with orange pillars and intricate markings, made of thick stone like medieval castle stone. There is a collection of moisture. The sensor follows a black winged demon like creature with crows and ravens fluttering around it as though that creature was Max since he was the target of the spell. It comes up to a room with a pull lever and an eyes slot which opens to someone saying, “state your business”. The demon holds out something in his hands that is blocked from view. It says I have found it, and Violi see someone standing there that can barely be made out and watch and see him greeted in the doorway this guy walks up and he turns, and he holds an item that appears to be a ring. He hands it to someone, and his arm is adorned in radiant golden armor and hear him say very good spell fades. Violi recognizes this as the golden knight. We put up an upside down cross outside the Max’s guild in defiance of the “good word” the veggie tales seem to be spreading.

We head over to the Mayoral estate to update the mayor

Trolls!

Observatory
The group picks up Abel to help transport him out of the city. Mingo drops the groups last vial of oil at the observatory. Violi casts invisibility on the Abel to begin moving out of the city. Barr goes to the city offices to send a letter to Austin Koochner, discreetly explaining the situation his father is in and to report to back to Underda in Rethal signing it “The Furry and Fiends” (Kyle is confident Underda is smart enough to pick up on things without prior notice).

Rethal West Gate
Dick Trickle and Hardy Boi say long time no see. Dick says he has a ring he came across but can’t tell us where cuz you know evidence. He wants to show the group how it works puts the ring on and can see Abel. He thinks that’s weird and keeps taking it on and off. The group gas lights him into thinking the ring is broken and then possibly blackmailed them into selling the ring at a reduced price of 9 gold split between the two of them winner of a rock-paper-scissors games gets the 5 gold(Harry won).

Walk to Everquarry
Establish a plan to use the Ring of 3 wishes to get resistances to BPS when returning to the Keep. Abel says he would be willing to help convince beardy boi at the Everquarry to stop production of the oil. Arrive outside Everquarry with our caravan at 930pm. We offer Poosha Descartes and Poollla Descartes promotions and a place to stay at the Keep. They are happy and we drink with the bois and celebrate together. While drunk Poola and Poosha say they saw trolls around the Everquarry. They pass out and we place them in the cart and put a pot on with deer boiling in it trying to attract the troll.
